Avioxx complete development of first Fischer-Tropsch demonstrator reactor
The founders of Avioxx are celebrating the safe delivery of their new Fischer-Tropsch reactor.
Mike Hancock and Steve Wilkinson are shown in jubilant mood at the completion of the design and construction of the first of many test vessels for work in this demanding field.
The novel design is intended to do two things: firstly, it is part of a small-scale demonstrator unit to show the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from wastes, and secondly, it will be the first of many revolutionary designs developed to radically improve the quality of aviation fuel.
“Our aim is to narrow down the number of components in the fuel by targeting those molecules which deliver good performance, and eliminating those which cause environmental damage” said Steve Wilkinson, Chief Technical Officer.
A great deal of work has already been done in this area but little effort has gone into commercialising it. We hope that our work will transform the air transport industry, not only providing fuels made from sustainable sources, but better fuels, delivering more miles per litre and cleaner miles per litre.
