Avioxx Returns to World-Leading Net Zero Congress

Avioxx Returns to World-Leading Net Zero Congress

One year ago, the Avioxx directors marked their commitment to sustainable aviation at the Innovation Zero congress in London representing the newly founded company for the first time. Moving forward to 2024, they returned to the exhibition floor on the 30th of April as exhibitors to showcase the firm’s rapid progress.

Innovation Zero is a net-zero congress that brings together innovators, policymakers, financiers and sustainability experts to facilitate collaboration within the climate tech industry. Avioxx had the opportunity to exhibit for the first time at an event, presenting their innovative engineering solution to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production to an audience of over 10,000 delegates.

Advancing the Net Zero Agenda

Throughout the event, keynote speeches and panel discussions provided a forum for exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and addressing key challenges facing the transition to net zero. Topics ranged from policy frameworks and technological innovations to supply chain sustainability and stakeholder engagement. One recurring theme was the importance of collaboration across sectors and industries — a sentiment that resonated deeply with Avioxx's own approach to sustainability.

Networking opportunities abounded, allowing the team to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations who share their commitment to sustainability. It was incredibly rewarding to engage with fellow attendees, from policymakers and industry leaders to academics and entrepreneurs, and to see firsthand the enthusiasm and interest in advancing the net zero agenda. Most importantly, the firm was able to establish connections with potential partners and investors to help drive their mission forward.

Growing Focus on Decarbonising Aviation

This year’s event featured the inception of the Aviation & Shipping Forum, a stage dedicated to conversations around achieving net zero in the respective industries. It is clear that air travel is a growing industry that must innovate rapidly to prevent skyrocketing emissions.

Speakers from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, Rolls-Royce, easyJet, International Airlines Group and other technology companies and aviation organisations, stressed the importance of policy in attracting investment toward technology development and commercialisation. The role of SAF as an alternative to fossil fuel was also a major discussion point, identified as an immediate solution as compared to hydrogen-electric aircraft.

In addition to the forum, several UK-based sustainable fuel startups made a presence at this year’s congress, including OXCCU, Carbon Neutral Fuels and Zero Petroleum. This representation is highly encouraging and demonstrates the potential of UK technologies to step up to meet the SAF mandates taking effect both domestically and abroad.

Avioxx’s Stellar Entrance

After only one year of incorporation, Avioxx has already made big strides in their SAF development programme. The opportunity to exhibit alongside established corporations and present their patented system at a global net zero event was a big honour for the directors. Not only that, but Avioxx was selected as a finalist amongst 216 candidates for the Innovation Zero Awards as a promising solution in the Transport & Logistics category.

The awards were judged by a panel of 50 climate experts from organisations such as McKinsey & Co, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Future Planet Capital, Microsoft, Siemens and the University of Cambridge.

The firm has recently secured seed funding and is moving forward with the design of a 5000 TPA SAF production facility in the Northwest of England. They will be raising further capital for the build of the plant later this year.
